Mark your calendar! Marceline’s Spring City Wide Garage Sales will be the weekend of April 28th and 29th. This event is sponsored by our local library. If you would like to be on our map forms are available at the Marceline Library, City Hall, and on our Facebook Page and Website. Forms must be turned into the Library by 5pm on Monday, April 24th. To be on the map with description is just $10. We limit the words in the listing to 25, and more words will cost an additional $5. The maps with the locations can be picked up beginning on Wednesday, April 26th at the Marceline Library, Casey’s, Prenger’s, and City Hall. You can also print off your own copy at our website www.marcelinelibrary.org or from our Facebook page.
In conjunction with the ‘Downtown Marceline Chocolate Walk’ the Library will be open on Saturday, May 13th from 9:00am-2:00pm. While we are open, we will be showing off our new addition to our Genealogy Room, ST Imaging ViewScan III. It allows editing, printing from Microfilm, access to Microfilm 1889-1948 newspapers, wills, marriage records, and death records.
DAR came to the Library for a demonstration of our new Microfilm Reader. This gives them another place to find information.
The Mommies and Me group meet on April 7th. The kids went on a scavenger hunt in the park and planted flower seed for them to take home. The group will meet again in September.
The Summer Reading Program will be here before you know it. Plans are already underway for this year’s summer activities with our theme “Build a Better World”. For the past couple of weeks, we have been posting newspaper articles, pictures, and other fun facts of our library on our Facebook page. We will be doing this for the next 3 years in preparation for our 100-year celebration. We are calling this ‘Memory Monday’. Keep watching for our posts.
